Venues and Accessibility

Welcome to Westben

Located in Northumberland County, Westben is a year-round Centre for Connection & Creativity Through Music in Nature. Westben presents a myriad of concerts and outdoor experiences in and around its three venues and is also the host of the International Performer-Composer Residency.

At a Glance

The Barn, Willow Hill, and The Campfire have accessible parking with free and friendly golf cart chauffeuring. Entrances have no steps. There is one wheelchair-accessible portable washroom at each venue. There is flexible seating for wheelchair access and assistance with walkers.

Willow Hill and The Campfire are both outdoor, uncovered venues. Both have gently sloping, grass-covered hills, and flat areas for seating. Bring your own outdoor chair and shade, and dress for the weather. Upon inclement weather, concerts may be moved into The Barn, just steps away.

The Schoolhouse has 3 steps and no accessible washroom – yet! On-site volunteers and staff are always available for assistance. We ask that wheelchair users kindly advise the Box Office when tickets are booked.

Unique Live Outdoor Music Venues, Music in Nature Experiences

The Barn

The Barn seats 400 and combines state-of-the- acoustics with a rustic yet sophisticated atmosphere. On sunny days from June to September, massive walls and doors roll away allowing music to waft over the surrounding meadow while you enjoy a beverage from the bar.

The Schoolhouse

The West Schoolhouse was purchased by Westben in 2020 and is your hub for all things administrative and educational. It accommodates year-round programs such as Chalk Talks, House Concerts, and services and programs including residencies, performances, life-long learning, and more!

Willow Hill

Willow Hill is a natural amphitheatre by the willow tree and pond, just north of The Barn. It’s a unique outdoor concert venue where you can bring your own lawn chair and picnic or order a Westben gourmet picnic and a drink from the bar to enjoy on this grassy slope.

The Campfire

The Campfire is an intimate outdoor music experience with a Westben performing artist. There will be smores, beverages, and time to chat with the artist. Bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a sunset evening of music outdoors.

The Digital Venue

Westben’s digital venue draws its inspiration from the Westben grounds. But instead of trying to replicate the in-person concert experience, this venue offers a digital music venue for playing with the musical experience from wherever you may be…

Mary West Nature Reserve

Located just across the road from Westben, the Mary West Nature Reserve (38 hectares / 95 acres)—owned and stewarded by the Nature Conservancy of Canada—is home to towering white pines, spring peepers, a winding river, and the at-risk Eastern Wood-Pewee.
