ABOUT
Catherine He
Catherine started playing the piano at the age of 4. Under the tutelage of Lang-Ning Liu, she won numerous competitions, including the CCC and CMC, and received her ARCT diploma at age 13. She also won first prize in the 28 and under piano category of OMFA, advancing to the FCMF nationals, where she received third place. On the international level, she was a semifinalist in both the Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists and the International e-Piano Junior Competition. In 2019, she placed first in the Junior Division of the Canadian Chopin Competition. That year, she also won the Taylor Academy Concerto Competition. Catherine graduated from The Taylor Academy in 2021. She is currently studying Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, where she won the 2023 Concerto and Aria Competition with her performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
Yves Thomas
Yves Thomas is Professor Emeritus of Modern French Civilization and Literature at Trent University. He has enjoyed writing on post revolutionary French Literature and the French Aesthetic avant-garde of the 1920s and now shares his time between the lore of chocolate and participating in the ongoing adventures of the Arts and Heritage Centre (AH!) in Warkworth.
