This pandemic has been difficult for the live performance community. It forced innovation at a very rapid rate that energized some and isolated others. Increased limitations can sometimes spark great creativity! Ken Tizzard seems to have been energized by this challenge. With time on his hands during the first pandemic lockdown, Ken decided to create a new album full of fresh versions of cover songs that have lived on his solo setlist for years.
Ken explains “initially I told my fans that I was going to record all these cover tunes I’ve been playing at Whiskey Wednesdays (his popular weekly residency at That Little Pub in Campbellford) for 10 years. It was to just be me and my acoustic guitar, a way to give them some new music.’” This originally modest concept blossomed into Ken Tizzard & Friends: All Together now - an epic project involving 40+ guest musicians from all over the continent!
The novel creative process involved Ken recording a rough demo of each tune, vocal and acoustic guitar only, and sending that out to the volunteering musical guests, giving them complete freedom for the parts they would send in. “There were only a couple of instances where I went back and asked the player for a change,” he notes. “That is remarkable given that everybody played without hearing what the other guests played.”

Enjoy a tune from This NEW Album - Mad World by Tears for Fears. Tizzard explains that this song “developed into a booming rock song once I confirmed that (Nickelback drummer) Daniel Adair and (Hedley bassist) Tommy Mac would be working together.”
